BeCounselled respects your privacy. This policy describes the information collected through becounselled.ca, why it is collected and how it may be used or disclosed. This policy is intended as a clear operational summary and should be reviewed periodically as the service develops.
Information we collect
- Contact information, such as your name, email address and optional phone number
- Your BC community and basic scheduling preferences
- General counselling categories, budget range, benefits intention and counsellor preferences
- Technical information ordinarily recorded by a web server for security and operation, such as an IP address, browser type and request time
Please do not use the matching form to submit a detailed personal, medical or clinical history. The form is designed to collect only enough information to consider a possible counselling match.
How information is used
We use submitted information to respond to you, assess basic matching criteria, identify a potentially appropriate participating counsellor, prevent spam, maintain website security and meet legal or professional obligations.
When information may be shared
With your consent, the basic information in your matching request may be shared with one or more participating counsellors for the limited purpose of determining availability and responding to your request. Information may also be handled by service providers that support website hosting and email delivery, subject to their applicable terms and safeguards. We may disclose information where required by law.
Storage and retention
The website’s matching form sends the submitted information to the designated BeCounselled administrative email account. The custom form does not intentionally create a separate WordPress database record of the submission. Messages and related correspondence are retained only as long as reasonably needed for matching, administration, legal requirements and dispute resolution.
Your choices
You may ask questions about the handling of your information or request correction of information held by BeCounselled. Consent may be withdrawn subject to legal, contractual and operational limits; withdrawing consent may prevent us from completing a match.
Counsellor records
If you begin services with a counsellor, that counsellor’s privacy practices and informed-consent agreement apply to the counselling relationship. BeCounselled does not control an independent provider’s clinical records.

Privacy questions can be submitted through the contact page. Do not use ordinary website contact methods for emergencies or urgent clinical information.
