BeCounselled

How It Works

A simple, transparent process for requesting an online counselling match in BC.

BeCounselled gives people across British Columbia one clear place to share what they need and learn about an available online counselling option.

1

Share the basics

Complete a short form with your community, the kind of support you are looking for, your preferred schedule, budget and any counsellor preference.

2

We review the request

A real person compares the request with the current scope, credentials, availability and service area of participating counsellors.

3

A provider connects with you

If a potentially suitable counsellor is available, they may contact you to discuss fit, fees, benefits documentation and possible appointment times.

4

You decide

You can ask questions and decide whether to book. You are not required to work with the proposed provider.

What we consider

  • The person or people seeking counselling
  • The general concern or support category
  • Online or in-person preference
  • Typical availability and approximate budget
  • Counsellor preference, when requested
  • Benefits or credential requirements you identify
  • Provider scope, service area and current availability

What matching does not mean

BeCounselled does not diagnose you, determine whether counselling is medically necessary or promise that a particular provider will be the right long-term fit. We also cannot confirm insurance reimbursement on an insurer’s behalf. Those decisions remain between you, the counsellor and, where applicable, your benefits provider.

Provider affiliation

Your request may be matched with a counsellor affiliated with BeCounselled or another independent provider participating in the network. We disclose this because a matching service should be clear about its relationships.
